I. Heat Test Procedure used to determine lamping guidelines #75-L, September 1, 1975
A. Lamp Location – An adjustable post top fitter which allows the top of the lamp to be located in the geometric center of the plastic enclosure.
B. Measurement of Heat Thermocouples mounted on the inside surfaces of the plastic enclosure. Lamps listed in guidelines are determined by the maximum lamp size which still does not cause the interior surface of the enclosure to exceed 65°C (149°F), or 90°C (194°F), depending on the material limitations.
II. Other methods of heat testing
1. Crayons – Temperature Sensitive | 2. Paints – Temperature Sensitive
III. Lamps listed are recommendations only. Due to the variety of fittings and light fixtures that do not comply with our recommended lamping guidelines, #75-L should be individually heat tested. It must be a responsibility of the fixture manufacturer to avoid premature aging due to overheating.
